New Releases

At Labour Weekend 2012, we released the 2011 Winemakers Selection Pinot Noir, 2012 Pinot Gris and 2012 Old Vineyard Gewurztraminer.

The 2011 Winemaker's Selection Pinot Noir was hand picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented in 100% new French Oak. The wine has gone through melactic fermentation, been gently filtered and then cold stabilised. The resulting wine has a beautiful well rounded palate that reflects the traditional winemaking techniques used. The wine will benefit from being cellared for one to two years before drinking. Tasting Notes: The wine opens on the nose with black fruit, spicy new oak and white pepper. On the palate, complex supple flavours of dark cherries, Doris plums, and velvet tannins lead to a satisfying, long, lingering finish.

The 2012 Old Vineyard Gewurztraminer has a softer palate than the 2011 but still gives excellent aromas and flavours of ginger and lychees. Tasting Notes: The wine opens on the nose with subtle hints of Turkish delight and ginger, followed by lychees, quince and crushed rose petals. The palate leads with a full-bodied textural taste of lychees, orange zest and ripe grapefruit, finishing with a long lingering taste of spicy ginger and lychee.

The 2012 Pinot Gris is a slightly drier style than the 2011. Tasting Notes: The wine opens on the nose with hints of citrus and tropical fruits with an underlying layer of nashi pears. The palate consists of complex, full-bodied citrus and tropical fruits again with nashi pears followed by a crisp, ripe apple, mouth cleansing finish.
